Abstract
Background. The issue of studying the organization and management system for training scientific and pedagogical staff is today in the centre of attention of both the Russian scientific community and government bodies implementing scientific and educational policy in the country. The article is devoted to the analysis of the current state of problems of administrative and legal regulation of the training of scientific and scientific-pedagogical staff in postgraduate (adjunct) courses. The issues of motivation of a graduate student (adjunct) and a supervisor to successfully defend a candidate's thesis are considered. The purpose of the work is to analyze the legal regulation in the area under study, as well as to study the existing points of view in the doctrine. Materials and methods. The implementation of research objectives was achieved by analyzing the positions of scientists available in the legal literature regarding the mechanisms of a graduate student (adjunct) and a supervisor’s motivation to successfully defend a candidate's thesis. The study uses the dialectical method of scientific knowledge as the main way of objective and comprehensive knowledge of reality. Results. The positions of leading scientists who have different understandings of the mechanisms of motivation of young researchers and their scientific supervisors are explored. Conclusions. The analysis made it possible to come to the conclusion that in order to increase the efficiency of training scientific and scientific-pedagogical staff in graduate school, an integrated approach is needed, aimed at increasing the efficiency of both graduate students and their supervisors. This approach should also help improve the quality of research work carried out as part of the training.
